Description

The Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is a distance-vector routing protocols used on UDP/IP which employ the hop count as a routing metric. As the largest number of hops is 15, RIP only applies to small scale of networks. There are three standardised versions of the RIP: RIPv1 and RIPv2 for IPv4, and RIPng for IPv6.
